162,758 accident victims rescued in January

The Regional Emergency Officers (REOs), District Emergency Officers (DEOs) of Punjab attended the meeting via video link and the Administrator ESD, Deputy Director Operations, Provincial Monitoring Officer, heads of the wing, senior officers from the ESD attended the meeting. Provincial Monitoring Officer briefed the meeting and said Rescue 1122 rescued 162,758 victims while responding to 168,648 emergencies across the province in January 2024.

He gave details of different operations. Dr Rizwan expressed his concern over 324 deaths of people in 30,063 road accidents last month. He requested the motorbike riders to adopt road safety measures and reduce their speed limit as per International love-30 campaign adopted all over the world. He directed all DEOs to educate citizens to avoid illegal parking and especially the commuters about precautionary measures during this on-going foggy season. He also directed the DEOs to develop coordination and liaison with the National Highways and Motorways Police to address illegal hurdles by un-attendant vehicles.
